Each week, Palmetto State Weddings will introduce our readers to one of the talented vendors from around our beautiful state through the Spotlight On series. If you're interested in being featured, please contact us.
Your wedding is the biggest party you'll (likely) throw in your lifetime, so you need every element to be perfect. Of course, you'll want to bring in tasty food and some custom cocktails to get the party started, but what really divides the okay-receptions from the oh-my-gosh-that-was-incredible receptions is the music.
Dave Landeo, a Charleston musician, knows a thing or two about creating an incredible party atmosphere: after all, he has (at last count) played over 3,000 shows in his 20 year career! Together with the his band, the Sol Beats, Dave gets crowds up and moving at birthday parties, tailgates, and, of course, weddings.
Today, we're talking with Dave about his love of the South Carolina Lowcountry and his favorite part of being a wedding musician.
Tell us a little bit about your path to success. Did you always want to be in the wedding industry?
I got into the business by accident after many requests from fans and friends who wanted me (solo or with band) to perform their weddings.
If you had to share one piece of advice for someone who was just starting out in the SC wedding industry, what would it be?
Always have a professional and positive attitude....and above all, have fun! It's infectious. :)
What's one thing that you wish your clients knew before booking you?
That our number one goal is to make sure your reception is one of the most wonderful experiences in your life. We care.
What's a surprising fact that most people don't know about you?
We enjoy performing ALL styles of music....and we add our own original version to many of the covers we play.
What is the best part about working and living in South Carolina?
As for working in the South Carolina area, we feel fortunate that Charleston, in particular, has become a wedding center, even more so since moving here from Tennessee. The living is grand: the people, the beaches, the food, the history, and the Southern hospitality.
What has been your best moment working in the SC wedding industry so far?
Meeting all the wonderful brides and grooms AND other vendors through the years...and being part of their lives.
