For her wedding at Southern Oaks in Gilbert, South Carolina, bride Faithe knew she wanted something different. “From an aesthetic stand point my inspiration behind our big day was Southern Glam. I knew I wanted to incorporate the right amount of elegance and class, but also have a rustic and timeless feel,” she says.
She accomplished this with lots of purple accents, lace, and dramatic detailing on everything from her gown to the table settings.
Groom Greg wanted the day’s theme to be focused on the love that he had for Faithe (“How incredibly sweet!” remembers the bride), so the couple ensured that everything about their day revolved around their vows to one another.
The Southern Oaks venue served as the perfect match to their rustic-but-elegant wedding theme: the couple exchanged vows underneath one of the majestic trees on the property, then headed indoors to celebrate their new union with family and friends.
Sweet Details at Southern Oaks
“Decorating our venue came relativity easy, and that's mostly because of our fabulous wedding coordinator, Pam!
“I absolutely adore wooden decor, distressed pieces , and vintage furnishing. These played a huge role in our theme of decorations. Wooden slab pieces held up beautiful arrangements of flowers and floating candles were center stage at our reception. Walking down the aisle, I had to make a grand appearance and what better way than walking through gorgeous wooden barn doors, draped in the most beautiful greenery.”
Making It Personal
“There were so many small details that I wanted to incorporate and had so many ideas to really make this an unforgettable night, not only for myself and future husband, but for our guests as well!
“Greg and myself are entertainers and actors at heart. We both have such magnetic personalities and demand attention it was a no-brainer that we had to show out on the dance floor. We put together a cute routine, dancing to Beyonce’s "Crazy in Love." It was certainly one of my favorite parts of the wedding.
“We had a picture board of some of our favorite memories together, customized koozies, and two customized signature cocktails that our guests could order at their leisure. "The Boozy Bride" and "The Groovy Groom" definitely gave our guests the liquid courage they needed to join us on the dance floor! We played the notorious "shoe game" and our DJ played all the booty shaking music one bride could handle.”
Dressing to Perfection
“To be perfectly honest, I chose everyone's outfits. I'm not proud of this, but I was absolutely a "bride-zilla" when it came to the fashion aspect. We both come from families where jeans and snake boots are everyday fashion, and dressing up isn't really a necessity. Had someone entered the venue wearing camouflage I was certain I would have rolled over and died (not literally, but the thought definitely was cringe worthy). Luckily everyone looked fantastic!
“The girls wore floor length dresses, in the color plum with detailed lace shoulders and a deep V neckline with a sheer lace covering the openness of the dress. It was a dress that exuded just the right amount of sexy and sweet, and looked flattering on every bridesmaid. We went for minimal jewelry and classy, effortless up-dos to accentuate the makeup and dress.
“I knew I wanted something that looked like a dress from a Disney Princess movie, and I got just that. I tried on several dresses at my first fitting at Davids, and after trying on at least eight dresses or so I found the one. With a sweet heart neck line and beaded detailing this dress was a show stopper. Not only was it gorgeous, but I felt amazing in it. Definitely flattering on my body type, for the girls are a little large (if you catch my drift) and I wanted something that was going to suck in my waist and give me all the lace I could imagine. The detailing was nothing short of amazing, and I paired the dress with a beautiful half sleeved lace jacket which added to the old Southern vintage vibes.”
