2018 has been an incredible year around here at Palmetto State Weddings!
We officially launched in January 2018 and were overwhelmed with support from all of the new friends and vendors that we discovered.
Now, 12 months later, we’ve built a unique community who loves South Carolina weddings as much as we do!
We’ve heard from brides and grooms who’ve used our directories to plan their big days, and we’ve showcased SO many talented vendors and awe-inspiring venues in our Real Weddings, Styled Shoots, Bridal Portraits, and Engagement Sessions.
As PSW has grown this year, we’ve heard from readers and vendors alike who’ve fallen in love with our features.
We decided to recount the top 10 most popular blog posts from the site this year as a way to end the year. These were the posts that received the most pageviews and social media shares—and they’re definitely worth a revisit before we start in on all of the new 2019 weddings!

This styled shoot’s rich color scheme and unique theming made it stand out to our readers. We loved the re-imagined fairy tale inspiration and luxe touches!
Barn weddings are still a huge trend, so it was refreshing to see an event where the casual country feel of barn weddings was partnered with an imaginative and luxurious mood for a one-of-a-kind shoot.

The first LGBTQ+ wedding that we featured, Jenna and Christine’s sweet church wedding connected with our readers thanks to their generous spirits and thoughtful details.
We love that photographer Jessica Hunt captured both the big, emotional moments and all of the intimate exchanges throughout the day. Jenna and Christine’s day not only showed our readers how many different forms that love can take but also how the Shandon community came together to support this lovely couple.

We love it when we are able to feature weddings that showcase the uniquely personal details of the bride and groom—and Emily and Steve’s wedding was filled with them!
With Gilmore Girls and a cup of joe as their main inspirations, the couple created a laid back, intimate event that was perfectly emblematic of their relationship.
Our favorite part? When Emily and Stephen walked to their reception site and stopped for a quick cup of coffee at their favorite Conway spot!

Nikki and Colin had the backyard wedding that we all dream about!
The weather was perfect, the backdrop included the marsh and live oaks, and the floral accents matched beautifully with the natural surroundings.
And did we mention the doughnut tower at the reception?!

The vintage-meets-modern aesthetic that Amy and Nick chose for their Lowcountry wedding was perfect for the property: a private location that has been in Nick’s family for years.
The couple knew that they had to be married in this idyllic spot, so they worked out the (many) details needed to turn a family hideaway into a picture perfect wedding weekend locale.
The end result was a magical, creative, and relaxed affair that was exactly what these two wordsmiths wanted.

From a young age, Morgan and Luke knew that what they had was real. So, they went the distance to make sure their love stayed strong despite going to different colleges and moving through young adulthood.
When they finally planned the wedding of their dreams, they returned to their hometown to throw the party of the year for the friends and family who’d supported their relationship from day one!

The barn wedding trend goes beautifully with South Carolina's wedding scene: not only does our state have deep ties with agriculture, but barn weddings look equally gorgeous amidst the live oaks of the Lowcountry as they do in the rolling hills of the Upstate.
One of South Carolina’s newest barn wedding venues, Huitt Farms, is family owned and run, and the family behind the venue insists on making every bride and groom feel like part of the family while they’re celebrating.
Our readers loved meeting the owners, learning about their family ties, and taking a tour of this stunning Anderson venue in what was our highest ranking Spotlight On series entry of the year.

Wide front porches, immaculately kept gardens, and antique furnishings: a bed and breakfast can be an amazing place to host your wedding.
And, since they’re usually smaller venues, they often come with a limited guest list, which translates to a less expensive wedding overall. So, you get a lot of bang for your buck!
South Carolina is packed full of sweet little towns and gorgeous bed and breakfasts, so we did the tough work for you and picked out several that you must check out.

We love all of the unique ways that our SC brides and grooms plan and execute the barn weddings of their dreams!
From country chic events to sleek, modern affairs, there’s a barn wedding for every taste in our Palmetto State Weddings exclusive post that covers some of our favorite venues from around the state.
