These high school sweethearts grew up on two different continents, but their unique experiences are what brought them together. Their Gassaway Mansion wedding celebrated their Korean and American traditions in a beautifully organized DIY celebration!
Jonathan, who hails from South Korea, made the move to the South Carolina Upstate with his family in 2011. Just a few months later, he met Meredith, another member of his new high school's freshman class.
Although the two were attended a small school, they didn't start their friendship until the 10th grade when they had a class together. During that time, they had a chance to learn about their different backgrounds and cultures while they grew as friends.
By 2013, they'd started dating, and by November 2015, Jonathan and Meredith were ready to take the next step in their relationship. He surprised Meredith on a chilly Thanksgiving day with a beautiful ring, and the two started planning their wedding at Gassaway Mansion.
Meredith and Jonathan wanted a relaxed, intimate wedding day, so they kept the guest list small and emphasized conversation over dancing at their reception.
"Meredith and Jonathan were so relaxed through the entire day," remembers photographer Jennifer Anderson. "This wedding was amazing. Gassaway Mansion and their staff put on a fabulous event!"
